Brustad, Bjarne (1895-1978)

Norwegian violinist, violist, and composer. He studied at the Oslo Conservatory, and later under Carl Flesch, and became active as a violinist and conductor in Oslo.

Works

symphonic poem ‘Atlantis’ (1945), suite for orchestra, nine symphonies (1948-73); Nature morte for string orchestra; four violin concertos (1922-61), Rhapsody for violin and orchestra, concertino for violin and chamber orchestra; three string quartets, suite for unaccompanied violin, suite for viola and piano; violin, viola, and piano pieces.
