Bryant, Paul (William) ‘Bear’ (1913–1983)

US football coach. At his retirement after the 1982 season, he was college football's most successful coach.

He was born in Moro Bottoms, Arkansas. He also produced highly ranked teams at Maryland, Kentucky and Texas A&M. After returning to his alma mater, the University of Alabama, in 1958, Alabama teams won six national championships and won or shared Southeastern Conference titles thirteen times.
