Bryn Mawr

Community in Lower Merion township, southeastern Pennsylvania, 16 km/10 mi northwest of Philadelphia; population (1990) 3,300. An affluent suburb of Philadelphia, it is the seat of Bryn Mawr College (1885) and of Harcum Junior College (1915).

In the early 1900s it was a summer resort.
