Buatta, Mario (1935- )

US interior decorator. Known as the ‘Prince of Chintz’, he was sought after for his interpretation of the English country house style. In the 1980s he began to design textiles and furniture.

He was born in Staten Island, New York. Following design study at Parsons, he established Mario Buatta, Inc. in 1963.
