Buena Vista

Independent city in west-central Virginia, 10 km/6 mi southeast of Lexington, at the southern end of the Shenandoah Valley, on the western slope of the Blue Ridge Mountains; population (1990) 6,400. It boomed in the 1890s, producing paper, and has also made silk, brick, and leather, rubber, and plastic products.
