Bujones, Fernando (1955–2005)

US ballet dancer. He joined the American Ballet Theater in 1972, was made a soloist in 1973, and a principal dancer in 1974. A virtuoso performer, he danced leading roles both in the major classics and in contemporary ballets, including Swan Lake, La Bayadère, and Fancy Free.

After leaving the American Ballet Theater in 1985, Bujones became associate artistic director at the Rio de Janeiro Opera House for one year, and in 1987 became the first US dancer to be invited to dance with the Bolshoi Ballet at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, Russia. Later that year, Bujones became a permanent guest artist with the Boston Ballet. He was the artistic director of Orlando Ballet until his death in 2005.
