Bulinus

Bulinus

Large genus of tiny freshwater and land snails, comprising over 1,000 species. They have external shells, and are related to the hedge- and grass-snails.

Certain species of this snail act as the intermediate host for the microscopic worm that causes bilharzia, one of the most common parasitic diseases.

Classification

Bulinus is in class Gastropoda of phylum Mollusca.
