Bunclody

Town in County Wexford, Republic of Ireland; population (2002) 1,360. It is situated on the River Clody (a tributary of the River Slaney), 42 km/26 mi north of Wexford town. It was formerly known as Newtownbarry (from 1577) and was the site of an insurrection in 1798.

The town's name was changed to Newtownbarry after its patron, a sheriff of Dublin.

Rosemary Skrine, from Bunclody, Co Wexford, was trying to warn traffic that a hound had broken away from a local fox hunt and was running loose.
The 8-1 chance, owned by Ann Ryan from Bunclody in County Wexford, emerged from the gloom to take the lead on the approach to the second-last and drew clear before the final obstacle for a 13- length win over Watermelon.
