Bungert, August (1845–1915)

German composer. He studied at Cologne Conservatory and in Paris, and produced his first (comic) opera at Leipzig in 1884. His ambition was to build a special theatre for the production of his tetralogy on the model of Bayreuth.

Wohin?; incidental music to Goethe's Faust; symphony Zeppelins erste grosse Fahrt; Tasso, Hohes Lied der Liebe, Auf der Wartburg for orchestra; piano quartet: piano pieces; songs.
