Burian, Emil František (1904–1959)

Czech singer, actor, author, stage manager, and composer. He studied at the Prague Conservatory, joined the Dada Theatre in Prague and was director of the dramatic studio of the Brno National Theatre 1929–30; he also founded a voice band, which sang to given rhythms without definite pitch, accompanied by percussion.
