Burle Marx, Roberto

    0.07 sec.

Burle Marx, Roberto (1909-1994)

Brazilian landscape architect. His work exploited the vivid colours of tropical plants to create spacious painterly landscapes of rhythmic abstract form. Exemplary are the Garden-Yacht Club, Pampulha, 1943, and Del-Este Park, Caracas, 1956. The setting for the new capital of Brasilia, designed by Lucio Costa (1902-98), owes much to his designs.
