Burleigh, Cecil (1885–1980)

US violinist and composer. He studied in the USA, Berlin, and finally at Chicago. After touring frequently and teaching in various places he settled at the University of Wisconsin as violin professor.

Works

symphonic poem ‘Evangeline’ (1918), Mountain Pictures, etc. for orchestra; three violin concertos; two violin and piano sonatas (The Ascension and From the Life of St Paul); numerous violin pieces.
