Burlingame

Burlingame

City in north-central California, on the western shore of San Francisco Bay, 24 km/15 mi south of San Francisco, of which it is a suburb; population (1990) 26,800. Light industries include flower growing and some high-tech manufacturing and marketing.

Founded in 1868, it grew up around the 1893 Burlingame Country Club, becoming a wealthy bayside community.
