Burlington Heights, Battle of

During the Anglo-American War of 1812, inconclusive engagement between British and American forces in the vicinity of Detroit 5 May 1813.

A small British force under Col Proctor was attacking an American position on Burlington Heights when it was attacked by a second American force of about 1,300 troops under General Henry Clay. The initial American charge broke through the British lines and captured their guns, but Proctor rallied his troops, counterattacked, and drove off Clay's force with about 1,000 casualties.
