Burnsville

City in southeastern Minnesota, on the Minnesota River, a residential and industrial suburb 23 km/14 mi south of Minneapolis; population (1990) 51,300. It is one of the fastest-growing cities in the area, with a large amount of commercial development taking place.

It was formerly an agricultural trading village. After World War II it became a bedroom community.
