Burntisland

Seaport, holiday resort, and former burgh in Fife unitary authority, Scotland, on the Firth of Forth, 15 km/9 mi southwest of Glenrothes; population (2001) 5,700. Ship-building and aluminium-processing are the principal industries.

Burntisland's former ties with Holland are evidenced by its parish church, which resembles the North Church in Amsterdam. Rossend Castle, built in 1119, is situated in the vicinity.
