Burrowes, Norma (1944– )

Irish soprano. She appeared in operas by Monteverdi and Puccini while at the Royal Academy of Music and from 1970 sang at Glyndebourne, the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London, and for the English National Opera: her roles included Zerlina, Susanna, and Fiorilla, and she sang Janáček's Vixen at Glyndebourne in 1975. From 1979 she sang Blondchen, Oscar, and Sophie at the New York Metropolitan Opera House. She retired in 1982.
