US composer. He studied in Vienna and Salzburg, Austria, and with Hans Werner Henze, and taught at George Mason University, Virginia, from 1974. His music is eclectic in character.

An American Triptych (three one-act operas after Craine, Hawthorne, and Melville; 1974), The Duchess of Malfi (after Webster; 1978), Aimée (1983).

Orchestral

Stravinskiana for flute and orchestra (1972), Variations on a Theme of Mahler, for chamber orchestra (1982); violin concerto (1983).

Other

chamber and vocal music.
