    0.04 sec.

Bushwell, David (1742-1824)

American inventor. He is credited with being the ‘father of the submarine’. After graduating from Yale University at the outbreak of the American Revolution, Bushwell built his man-powered submarine vessel, armed with a torpedo. Despite its failure against British men-o-war, it demonstrated the feasibility of submarine attack.
