Bussell, Darcey Andrea

Bussell, Darcey Andrea (1969– )

English ballerina. She joined the Royal Ballet in 1988 and became its youngest-ever principal. Championed by choreographer Kenneth Macmillan, she has appeared in a range of ballets, and is particularly noted for her roles in George Balanchine's productions.

She joined the Sadler's Wells Royal Ballet in 1987, progressing to the Royal Ballet as soloist, first soloist, and then principal ballerina 1989–2006. She retired from ballet in 2007.
