Buytewech, Willem Pietersz. (c. 1591-1625)

Dutch painter and etcher. His works, which are very rare (only about ten are known), have much in common with the work of Frans Hals, with whom Buytewech is known to have collaborated. An example is his Society Courtship (Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam).

He was born in Rotterdam and worked in Haarlem 1613-17 and in Rotterdam from 1617.
