Bychkov, Semyon (1952– )

Russian conductor. He studied in Leningrad and New York and was director of Mannes College of Music Orchestra 1976–80, Grand Rapids Symphony Orchestra 1980–85, and Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra 1985–89. In 1989 he became musical director of the Orchestre de Paris, bringing it to the London Promenade concerts in 1991. He led Eugene Onegin in Paris in 1992, and was named principal guest conductor of the St Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra the same year. His brother, Jakov Kreizberg, is also a conductor.
