Byrne, David (1952- )

Scottish-born US musician who moved to the USA at the age of six. He became a guitarist and songwriter as a teenager. In 1975 he founded the so-called postmodern rock group Talking Heads. Beginning in 1983, he became involved in a variety of film and music projects as an actor, director, producer, and ethnomusicologist.

He was born in Dunbarton, Scotland, and moved to Landsdowne, Maryland, at age six. He attended the Rhode Island School of Design.
