Byrne, Gabriel (1950– )

Irish film actor who has featured in a number of British and US films, including Defence of the Realm (1985) and Miller's Crossing (1990).

Born in Dublin, Byrne is known for portraying dark, romantic heroes, but has yet to play the lead role in any film. He has appeared in The Usual Suspects (1995), Enemy of the State (1998), and The Man in the Iron Mask (1998). He has also worked as a producer, producing In the Name of the Father (1993). He published his autobiography, Pictures in my Head, in 1995.
