Byron, (Augusta) Ada, Countess of Lovelace (1815-1852)

English mathematician, a pioneer in writing programs for Charles Babbage's analytical engine. In 1983 a new, high-level computer language, Ada, was named after her.

She was the daughter of the poet Lord Byron.
