CD-ROM XA

In computing, a set of standards for storing multimedia information on CD-ROM. Developed by Philips, Sony, and Microsoft, it is a partial development of the CD-I standard. It interleaves data (as in CD-I) so that blocks of audio data are sandwiched between blocks of text, graphics, or video. This allows parallel streams of data to be handled, so that information can be seen and heard simultaneously.
