Cabell County

County in southwestern West Virginia, USA, on the Appalachian Plateau; area 730 sq km/282 sq mi; population (1990) 96,800. It is drained by the Guyandot and Mud rivers, and bounded to the northwest by the Ohio River. Huntington is its seat and largest city. In a mining and agricultural area, it has manufacturing centres at Huntington, Milton, and Barboursville.

When I was twenty-three, just out of college and desperate for a job, I went to the Cabell County Public Library in Huntington, West Virginia, and asked for a job as a clerk.
The hospital is the largest private employer in Cabell County, with more than 1,700 employees, and was established by the Pallottine Sisters in 1924.
