Cabot, Richard Clarke

Cabot, Richard Clarke (1868–1939)

US doctor and medical reformer. He introduced the practice of medical social service so that a doctor could treate the whole person. As early as 1913, he advocated prepaid medical group practice. From 1920–34, he taught social ethics at Harvard and he published on a variety of social issues as well as on medical topics.

He was born in Brookline, Massachusetts, the brother of Hugh Cabot. He was affiliated with Harvard Medical School 1899–1932 and Massachusetts General Hospital 1898–1921.
