Cadmus et Hermione

Opera by Jean-Baptiste Lully (libretto by Philippe Quinault), first produced at the Paris Opéra, France, on 27 April 1673. In the story, Cadmus loves Hermione but Mars has promised her to the giant Draco. Cadmus proves his bravery by killing a dragon. After complications introduced by the gods, all ends happily.
