Cadwallon

Cadwallon (or Caedwalla) (lived 6th century)

King of Gwynedd (c. 625–34), in North Wales. He allied with Penda of Mercia and in 632 defeated and killed Edwin of Northumbria at Hatfield Chase. The following year he was himself defeated and killed near Hexham by Edwin's nephew, Oswald. Cadwallon was the only known British king in historic times who crushed an English dynasty.
