Caetano, Marcello José des Neves Alves (1906–1980)

Portuguese right-wing politician. Professor of administrative law at Lisbon from 1940, he succeeded the dictator António Salazar as prime minister from 1968 until his exile after the military coup of 1974. He was granted political asylum in Brazil.
