Cagnes-sur-Mer

Residential and commercial town in the département of Alpes-Maritimes, southeast France, situated 10 km/6 mi southwest of Nice; population (1990) 41,300. Its 13th–17th-century château contains mementoes of the Impressionist painter Pierre-Auguste Renoir, who lived here from 1900 to 1919.
