Calamianes

Island group of the Philippines, situated midway between the islands of Mindoro and Palawan; area 1,555 sq km/600 sq mi. The group forms part of Palawan province. The main island is Buaranga, about 50 km/30 mi long. Rice and cashew nuts are the chief products, and there is also fishing; manganese is mined.

Improved travel links have led to an increase in tourism, with diving being a popular activity.

The Yulo King ranch on Busuanga Island is one of the largest cattle stations in Asia.
