Calderón, Alberto P (1920-1998)

Argentine mathematician who specialized in Fourier analysis and partial differential equations.

Calderón was born in Mendoza and began his career as an engineer but was persuaded to study mathematics at the University of Chicago by mathematician Antoni Zygmund in 1948. Together they devised the Calderón-Zygmund theory of singular integrals.
