Caledon

River in South Africa rising in the Maluti Mountains, part of the Drakensberg; length 480 km/298 mi. It flows into the Orange River, forming for the greater part of its course the boundary between Free State and Lesotho.

Caledon

Town in Peel Regional Municipality, southern Ontario, Canada, on the upper Humber and Credit rivers, 40 km/25 mi northwest of Toronto and adjacent to Brampton; population (1991) 35,000. Chiefly residential, it was created in 1974, including the old milling, now resort, centre of Bolton, as well as Caledon East and Albion.

The Caledon Hills are noted for their skiing centre and for their autumn scenery.

The Canadian regional municipality of Peel, which includes Brampton, Caledon and Mississauga in the province of Ontario, has officially opened an Integrated Waste Management Facility in Brampton.
A study released by the Caledon Institute of Social Policy (Bezanson & Noce, 1999) notes that continuity of care has been disrupted by hospital mergers and closures, with information about individual patients inadequately transferred.
