Calne, Roy Yorke (1930- )

British surgeon who developed the technique of organ transplants in human patients and pioneered kidney-transplant surgery in the UK. Knighted 1986.

Calne was educated at Guy's Hospital Medical School, London. He became professor of surgery at Cambridge University 1965.
