CamargueArea of the Rhône delta enclosed by the two principal arms of the river, south of Arles, France; area about 780 sq km/300 sq mi. One-third of the area is lake or marshland and dykes have been constructed to prevent widespread flooding. Black bulls and white horses are bred, and rice and vines are grown.
