Campbell, Colen (1676–1729)

Scottish architect. He was one of the principal figures in British Palladian architecture. His widely influential book Vitruvius Britannicus was published in 1712. Among his best-known works are Burlington House, London (1718–19); Mereworth Castle, Kent (1722–25); and Houghton Hall, Norfolk (1722–26).

His revision of Palladio's First Book of Architecture was published in 1728.
