Campbell, Robert (1804-1879)

Irish-born US trapper and capitalist who emigrated to the USA in 1825. He formed the company Sublette and Campbell with William Sublette. He became a hotel owner and bank president and served as an Indian commissioner in 1851 and 1869.

He was born in Aughlane, Ireland, and moved to St Louis, Missouri.
