Campbell

Family name of the dukes of Argyll; seated at Inveraray Castle, Argyll, Scotland.

Campbell

City in Santa Clara County, west-central California, USA, in Silicon Valley on Los Gatos Creek, 8 km/5 mi southwest of San Jose; population (1990) 36,000. It is an electronics and scientific research centre. Industries include the manufacture of computer components, electrical supplies, furniture, aluminium products, and tools. Older industries include lumberyards and fruit canning and poultry processing plants.

Campbell

City in Mahoning County, northeastern Ohio, USA, on the Mahoning River; population (1990) 10,000. Called East Youngstown until 1926, it adjoins Youngstown on the southeast, and is known for its extensive iron and steel works. Wood panels, sashes, and storm windows are also manufactured.
