Campbell, Sol (1974- )

English footballer. A strong and pacy defender, he first achieved international acclaim with his accomplished displays in the 1998 World Cup. By the start of 2005 he had won 64 caps since making his full international debut in 1996. Having seen out his contract at Tottenham Hotspur, where he had played for ten years, he moved to their north London rivals Arsenal in July 2001 on a free transfer, where he helped them win the League and FA Cup double in his first season.
