Canal Street
| Name of two well-known thoroughfares in the US cities of New Orleans and New York. In the former, Canal Street once formed the boundary between the French and American quarters of the city, and was intended as a neutral zone; a canal along the street was never built. Canal Street in lower Manhattan, New York, divides Chinatown from Little Italy, and is famous for its street markets and discount stores. |
