Canfield, Cass (1897-1986)

US editor and publisher. Associated with Harper & Brothers from 1924 until his death, he was an active editor who attracted such notable authors as John Gunther, Thornton Wilder, and John F Kennedy; he became the company's president in 1931 and was chairman of the board from 1945 to 1955.

He was born in New York City.
