Canonsburg

Borough in Washington County, western Pennsylvania, USA, 32 km/20 mi south-southwest of Pittsburgh; population (1990) 9,200. Canonsburg produces gas and oil, and has some light manufacturing.

Settled around 1772, Canonsburg was a centre of the Whiskey Rebellion (1794). It was once an important coal mining centre, and a leading radium manufacturer.
