Cape Coral

City in Lee County, southwestern Florida, USA, north of the mouth of the Caloosahatchee River, near the Gulf Coast, 13 km/8 mi southwest of Fort Myers; population (2000) 102,300. A booming resort and retirement community, it more than doubled in population in the 1980s.
