Cape Elizabeth

Town in Cumberland County, southwestern Maine, USA, on the western side of Casco Bay, adjoining South Portland and 6 km/4 mi south of Portland; population (1990) 8,900. Cape Elizabeth is an affluent suburb of Portland.

Portland Head Light, the oldest (1791) and most famous Maine lighthouse, is in the northern part of Cape Elizabeth. Crescent Beach and Two Lights state parks are at its southeastern extremity, at the cape that gives the town its name.
