Cape Fear

Promontory in south North Carolina. It is located on the Atlantic coast, 35 km/22 mi south of Wilmington. The Cape Fear River empties into the Atlantic at this point.

The Military Ocean Terminal, Sunny Point (MOTSU), relinquished possession of historic Fort Johnston at the mouth of the Cape Fear River to the City of Southport on September 8, 2006 after the federal government formally conveyed the property to its new owner.
