Capper, Arthur

Capper, Arthur (1865–1951)

US publisher and senator. A newspaper and magazine publisher, he was elected Republican governor of Kansas 1915–19, and US senator 1919–49. He was a New Deal supporter in domestic politics and an isolationist in foreign policy.

He was born in Garnett, Kansas. He was not an especially outspoken leader in the Senate.
