Capriccio espagnol

Orchestral work by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, written as a display piece for the St Petersburg Orchestra; it was finished on 4 August and performed in St Petersburg, Russia, on 17 December 1887. It contains brilliant solo parts for most of the principal instruments and for the brass in groups. It was originally intended to be for violin and orchestra, a companion-piece to Rimsky-Korsakov's Russian Fantasy (1886).
