boarfish

Marine bony fish found chiefly in the Mediterranean and northeast Atlantic. It has a flat oval body that is reddish coloured with seven transverse orange bands on the back. Boarfish are related to the dory.

Classification

Boarfish Capros aper belongs to the order Zeiformes, class Osteichthyes.

The name boarfish is derived from its projecting hoglike snout.
